Locked into read only access

Mike

I had been sharing an Access 97 mdb file between two Win
98 PC's on a peer to peer network. Next I upgraded the
two PC's to Office 2003 and was able to share the files.
Recently, I upgraded to new pc's running Win XP home and
installed the office 2003 apps on the two new pc's and
copied the mdb file from the old host 98 pc to the new
host XP pc over the network. Now when I try to open the
mdb file from the other PC in shared mode it will only
open in 'read only'. I have made sure everything is set
to shared, the folders are shared and the read only is
off on the mdb file attributes. In some research on the
MS site I noticed one possible cause was the application
was 'out of date'. I had no problem reinstalling the
Office 2003 on the new pc's, is it possible that it has
locked out sharing the access data file? If not, how can
I get the file to open on the other pc in the shared mode.
Thank you for the help. Mike

I think we are using NTFS, so I will look for the file
and make sure it is shared. Thanks for the help.
