Local printer attached button is disabled

I use my office XP Prof. computer to login in a domain
based network, however when I install my locally attached
printer the "Local printer attached to this computer"
button is disabled. It seems that I dont have the
permission to add my local printer. How do I add a
permission to add local printer to a user in a Windows
2000 Server domain based network? Thank you.

You'll probably need to get one of your Domain
Administrators to add the printer or give you more rights
to your local machine, i.e. contact IT

Since I am also the administrator of the domain, what
rigths will I give to the user object so that he can
install his local printer?

Thank you.

Make sure your domain account or at least the domain admin group is in your local Administrators group. If it is you may
need to run Gpedit.msc to check to see if the policy "Load and unload device drivers" under the branch below to make
sure the Administrator group is still added.

Computer Configuration\Windows Settings\Local Policies\User Rights Assignment

You should also check the policy "Devices: Prevent users from installing printer drivers" under the branch below to make
sure it is still Disabled.

Computer Configuration\Windows Settings\Local Policies\Security Options

Since you are in a domain you will also have to find out if either of these has been changed by a GPO.
