I have read all of the messages so far and none solve my problem. I have a
Sony laptop with both wired and wireless capability. The wireless works
fine, but the wired connection reports: "Cable is Unplugged".
It is clear from the posts that many people are having similar problems.
I have talked to the manufacturer and they want to reformat the disk and
reinstall their system.
The current hardware configuration worked with both wired and wireless
before the SP2 upgrade.
I have uninstalled and reinstalled the device. The TCP/IP filtering was set
to "Permit All". The device properties has the box UNchecked to turn off to
save power. I replaced the cable. The router works with a desktop wired to
it. The light on the router goes on when the cable to the laptop is plugged
in.
I read the PC Magazine article and ran the command prompt "netsh winsock
reset catalog".
Nothing has helped. No traffic goes over the wired connection. But, when I
unplug the cable and turn on the wireless with the same router, everything
goes smoothly.
Any suggestions are welcome.
