Local Area Network Cable is Unplugged

I have read all of the messages so far and none solve my problem. I have a
Sony laptop with both wired and wireless capability. The wireless works
fine, but the wired connection reports: "Cable is Unplugged".

It is clear from the posts that many people are having similar problems.

I have talked to the manufacturer and they want to reformat the disk and
reinstall their system.

The current hardware configuration worked with both wired and wireless
before the SP2 upgrade.

I have uninstalled and reinstalled the device. The TCP/IP filtering was set
to "Permit All". The device properties has the box UNchecked to turn off to
save power. I replaced the cable. The router works with a desktop wired to
it. The light on the router goes on when the cable to the laptop is plugged
in.

I read the PC Magazine article and ran the command prompt "netsh winsock
reset catalog".

Nothing has helped. No traffic goes over the wired connection. But, when I
unplug the cable and turn on the wireless with the same router, everything
goes smoothly.

Any suggestions are welcome.

Are the drivers for the network adapters SP2 compatible? This is the problem
that many are having. A few manufacturer provided drivers require features that
are blocked by SP2.

Did you also apply SP2 to the desktop computer?

Please provide ipconfig information for the laptop, and the desktop, computers.
Start - Run - "cmd". Type "ipconfig /all >c:\ipconfig.txt" into the command
window - Open c:\ipconfig.txt in Notepad, copy and paste into your next post.

Please provide static route for each computer.
Start - Run - "cmd". Type "route print >c:\route.txt" into the command window -
Open c:\route.txt in Notepad, copy and paste into your next post.

Cheers,
Chuck

Thanks for responding.

Yes. SP2 is installed on both the laptop and the desktop and the desktop
wired connection has no issues.

Below please find the Ipconfig and route list that you requested. Both are
from the laptop when it is connected with a wire. As a reminder, the
wireless networking works fine and obviously the ipconfig and route list are
considerably different in the wireless mode.

Thanks again for taking a look.

More like "media uninstalled" - there's no trace of any network there.

The Node Type is Hybrid - so no problem with name resolution.

Are you actually using IPV6, aka Teredo Tunneling? Try un installing that
first. Then find out from Sony TS whether their network drivers are SP2
compliant.
