Local Area Connection Status

When I check my LAC status, it displays the activity statistics in packets.
Is it possible to get this to change to bytes? I'm sure I've seen it
expressed as bytes on another computer but I can't find a settings to change
it.

You may have been looking at a dial-up modem connection on the other
computer. That does report activity in bytes.
