local area connection and verizon dsl

before i installed windows xp sp 2 my lan and dsl connection both had 10mbps
after i installed xp sp 2 my lan now has a limited or no connectivity icon
but the mbps are still at 10 and my verizon dsl has automatically changed to
100mbps. i would like to know if anyone knows the reason for this and how it
can be changed if needed. i uninstalled xp sp 2 and it went back to the way
it was 10 mbps at each. i could still connect to the internet either
way..........

Also make sure you have updated drivers for your NIC - some hardware
companies have had to issue new drivers since XP SP2 was released to fix
incompatibilities between their original drivers and SP2.
