Loading personal setting from c:/documents and settings/TEMP...

all of my settings had reset when I logged in, and when I dug a little deeper
I found out why. Instead of accessing the default folder for settings,
desktop shortcuts and such, windows is accessing c:/documents and
settings/TEMP. I just need my seetings back, I'm also not sure if it's
changed other things in different parts of my computer, as my registry entry
to rename my recycle bin seems to have disapeared. Any replies to help would
be appreciated, Thanks!

Hi R,

It means your user profile is corrupted and a temporary one has been built
for your use. Generally corrupted profiles are not recoverable. What you
need to do is logon as administrator and create a new account for yourself,
then copy the old one into it. To access the default administrator account:

In WinXP Pro, hit ctrl+alt+delete twice at the logon screen and type it in.

In WinXP Home, you must restart and enter Safe mode by hitting F8 at
startup. The administrator logon will be one of the options.

Note that one step not listed in the article is that after creating the
destination profile you must log into it once first to create the necessary
file structure before you do the copy procedure.
