lnk files

I posted yesterday about a whole slew of problems I was having with Vista
after an update downloaded. I finally managed to get Vista to re-install
over itself and that fixed most of the issues, my admin access seems back in
effect as are the gadgets and my network access but the file association for
lnk files is still messed up causing all my desktop shortcuts and start menu
items to basically be useless. I tried downloading a regfix file for Vista
suggested in another topic but when I run it it gives an error message
stating: Cannot import C:\lnkfix_vista.reg: Not all data was successfully
written to the registry. Some keys are open by the system or other processes.

Anyone have any idea how to fix this?

Daemonfyre:
Boot into safe mode and try to run the reg file in that state.
Reboot and check if it was successful.
