Live search IE6 Side Search Bar problem

G

Guest

In the last couple of days, Live Search has started showing the results in
the IE search bar, which when clicked on show the resulting url in both the
right hand window and also. Like here...

http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b347/KBL007/Scrapbook/Livesearch1.jpg?t=1191518090

But when you click a search result in the search bar, it shows the resulting
url in the
search bar and not the right hand window. Like here...

http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b347/KBL007/Scrapbook/Livesearch2.jpg?t=1191518326

Any ideas how to get this back to the Select search result and the result is
displayed in the right hand window leaving the list of search results in the
search bar?

HI Klee,

We Know about it. It seems the Live developers rolled out an update and
stuffed it up. You can get around it for the time being until they fix it up
(probably month end) by draging the search results link to the main window.
Other recomendations have been to use Google instead, or use the Live
homepage (http://www.live.com) as your homepage to do searches, but I am
sure they will get it fixed quick smart.

Regards.

Thanks for the reply Rob. Good to know that it'll be sorted.
I much prefer the MSN/Live search via the search bar to googling as I can
retain the search results in the search window browsing sites freely. Have
never found google results that good in comparison anyway.

Always search via the search bar for reasons stated in reply to Robs post
above

Do you mean the IE Address bar? If you make Google the default (see link),
searching in the Address Bar will produce Google results.

Now pull the other one!

Making Google your homepage and making Google your default Search is NOT the
same thing!

MONTH'S END? You gotta be kidding me guys!

If I broke a production system where I work we're expected fix the
break THAT NIGHT!

Why do you think the Live team can afford to take a MONTH to fix
this???

I am SO GLAD this is being discussed here; I thought I had "glitched" my
registry, or somethin'. This happened at work (Windows 2000, IE6), and just
now at home (98SE, IE5.5). On my home computer I tried two "scanreg/restore"
actions, didn't help. I presume that when they get of their sofas and fix
it, it will just start working again? Hope so...

In which case, No. There's no Google option for the side search bar just the
address search.

Kevin

Speaking of that "customize" function --- recently, Netzero (who did the
hostile takeover to my ISP a couple years back) began seizing the "search"
button, so I could ONLY search with "Netzero"; of course, no matter what I
searched for, "not found" was the result.

I tried to "customize" the search window, but the "customize" window is
nothing but another "NETZERO SEARCH" screen. By using another ISP, I
was allowed to specify "Windows Live" --- and it persisted when I went back
to the first ISP.

But the "customize" window is still "netzero search". I believe this is
illegal; I pay them ONLY to connect me to the internet, not to seize my
browser and search. (I now "alt-ctrl-del" kill their software, every time,
as soon as I'm connected.)

If anyone knows how to get rid of their "seize", I would greatly appreciate
it.

A thousand thanx in advance...

Nope, see my previous reply.

Go to http://www.google.com/options/defaults.html > Scroll down to Make
Google Your Default Search Engine > Internet Explorer > For Windows > Follow
the directions.

PS: Bookmark the page in case you'll want the Undo file later.

Yes, annoying. "Juno" was the company taken over by Netzero; I still use
Juno software to connect --- it has its own format, a screen with three tabs
(read, write, internet) --- connecting with their software automatically pops
a browser (whatever's default) and takes you to the "juno/netzero" homepage.

So I'm not sure what program(s) I can remove; obviously if I remove "Juno"
then I can't connect to their server anymore.

Since I established "customize using ONLY Live Search", it's not
intolerable, the previously-set "customize" seems to be overriding their
hijack. I just can't use the "customize" feature as long as I'm connected to
"Juno/Netzero".

Thanx again...

Hi,

This should be in the list and it's what you need to remove...
