Live account in Windows Mail?

Hello,

I have grudgingly accepted the fact that I can not use Windows Mail for my
hotmail account (which I find absolutely ridiculous), but now that I have
"upgraded" it to Windows Live (whatever that means) I think I should be able
to.

So, I hope someone knows:
- can I indeed use my Windows Mail for my new Windows Live account?
- and if so, what are the proper settings for ingoing and outgoing mail
servers?
- if not, what other mail programs are available that can do this?

Hope you can help,

best,
Guido

Yup,

I just turned one of my old Hotmail accounts into a Windows Live Hotmail
(beta)account. Functionally, I don't see much difference except Live Hotmail
has a bunch of other options that I wouldn't use unless I used OUTLOOK or
Windows Mail.

I don't understand. Why Live Hotmail? Why not just allow Windows Mail to use
web-based Hotmail? Seems that Microsoft is trying to fade out Windows Mail
with Live Hotmail. Is that what they're trying to do in order to obtain more
advertising dollars?

You would need to talk to someone from Microsoft to get an answer to that,
but they won't give you one even if you can reach them.

Hi all,

I have had the same problem.

I think I have seen a solution that links Live Mail with OUTLOOK. It was a
new release on CNET.

Only problem.... you have to buy OUTLOOK ...

I have OUTLOOK for work and hoped to combine home and work diarys and
contacts ... but the cost of buying outlook for home use seems steep.

So .. there might be a solution .. but it will cost.

Tony.

Free:
Windows Live Mail; a desktop program for HTTP and POP3 mail (and, I think,
IMAP mail):
