Linksys Wireless-G Notebook Adapter - physical connection does not work

Linksys Wireless-G
Compaq Armada M700
Win2K
Linksys Etherfast Cable/DSL Router
Linksys Wireless Access Point (WAP11)

I have a local port (physical connection) for connecting to router
using a CAT5 cable. All works fine. After installing the wireless
network adapter, the
local (physical) port quit working while the wireless card works. I
need both to work. When at the office, I connect using the physical
port, when at home I use the wireless network card.

Any ideas?

Most likely if you take the wireless adapter out, the
wired connection will work on reboot. If you want to leave
the wireless card in at all times you can try setting up
two different hardware profiles. The first one configure
with the wireless card and disable the on board nic. the
second vice versa. Good Luck.

There's no reason in the world that putting in a wireless
PCMCIA card should affect your built-in network adapters.
If they are configured with the same IP addressing then
that needs to be looked at, but they should both work.

When you say "quit working", what exactly are the symptoms
of not working? Do you still have a link light on the jack? Does
the device show as working in Windows? How about the LAN
connection icon itself -- what state does that show when the wireless
card is in use?

Concur. I have a Linksys Wireless G PC card for my HP ZT-1180 laptop, and the
built-in wired connection works even with the wireless card installed.

I unistalled the software and reinstalled it. Now, everything is working just fine.
