Links won't open in IE

I have Windows XP Home with SP2. I am having trouble opening links at a lot
of different web sites. It usually says "javascript:void(0)" in the
information bar when I try and nothing happens. I have looked at every
website with information on how to correct this problem that I could find.
I've tried iefix (1.5), mcrepair.exe, the newest java update, re-registered
..dll's, and whatever information I could find at Microsoft websites. Finally
I removed SP2. I went to one of the websites with information that I
couldn't access before and I was able to access them. I then reinstalled SP2
and tried again and couldn't access anything. So now I know it has
something to do with SP2. Has anyone else had this problem and found a
solution? I'd like to keep SP2 but I need to be able to access certain
information. I would appreciate any new ideas for solving this issue.
Thanks.

1. Uninstall SP2 again & reboot.

2. Run a thorough check for Hijackware:

When all else fails, HijackThis v1.99.1
(http://aumha.net/downloads/hijackthis.zip) is the preferred tool to use.
It will help you to both identify and remove any hijackware/spyware. **Post

3. When the machine is clean, install SP2 again.

Thank you so much! I've been trying everything for a month. I downloaded
the Ad-Aware and cwshredder and ran them. Then I reloaded SP2. Everything
works great again. Again...thanks!
