Linked Table Manager Operation

Up until recently when I used the Linked Table Manager, had several tables
selected (all from the same source DB), and had the "Always ask for new
location" box checked, the Manager would ask for the external database once
and connect all the associated tables. Now, it asks me for the source
database for every single table! Truly annoying when there about a dozen
table to link (this is a front end DB where I am using link manager). As my
machine is on a corporate network, I am not sure what and when patches are
pushed.

Has something changed recently to cause this change in Linked Table Manager
behavior? Is there a setting which tells it to check all checked tables
against just one DB?

Any thoughts and suggestions will be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

Are you sure that all selected tables have same source db? I found that if
just one selected table had different source db, then I got prompted for each
table.

The only times I've seen that behavior is when there were
different back end paths or if a BE table didn'e exist.

Andy & Marshall,

I am 100% with both of you on your observations; that is why I am so
perplexed!

All the tables selected exist in the DB I am trying to link too. I even
tried selecting 2 tables I was 100% sure existed in the target table (which
existed!). When I ran the LTM, it asked for each table!

Arghhhh!

Perplexing indeed.

The only other thought I have is that there may be a
difference in the path\file names - long vs short kind of
thing???

Does it continue even after you have relinked everything?

I have tried a couple of times and get the same results. I am baffled!

Thanks for the suggestions!
