Limited Internet Access

Here is the dilemna. My sister is running XP home edition. She has
about 5 users on the computer, and only one of the users can access the
internet. Even if she switches to another user, the connection is
automatically dropped.

Her internet connection is Comcast cable, no routers, direct connect
from modem to NIC. Does not require any type of connection dialing,
ie. pppoe. When logged in to problematic users, can ping sites with no
problems, but is not able to browse. when opening IE, it asked to
connect to the internet, but never does.

Any suggestions, or other information needed? I am not physically at
the computer. It is about 3 states away.

Thanks ahead of time.

try and mimic all the Internet/network connections dialog on the working
account and put these on the other accounts, it may be also that 4 of the
accounts are limited users and the other 1 is a administrator account

Even the admin user of the computer is having problems. What settings
are you talking about mimicing? Any other suggestions?

for example,
press in the start menu--> my network places and then in my network place on
the left side press view connections, these are all your netowrk and internet
connections on your PC, double click on any of these and write down the
settings in this and re-enter them into the troublesome accounts
