License WinXP Pro OEM English convert to French

I recently purchases a lot of computers with Windows XP Pro OEM English
pro-installed (HP) some of them need to be converted to french. Each PC have
its own WinXP certificate on the case.

May I purchase the Windows XP Pro French Media from Open License (about 10$)
and reinstall it on the computers with originaly have the English version?

No. You must purchase a conventional "Full French Version"
of Windows XP and perform a "Clean Install" using the new
French Windows XP CD and the Product Key that comes
with the French Windows XP CD.

NO! The open license media is not compatible with the OEM/Retail keys. You
must purchase the French version of the OEM or start an open-license purchase
for the French version.

Is it possible to convert the English edition to french settings?
Sounds like buying a bunch of french installations would be the
expensive way out.

Switching the user interface language is only supported through the
Multilingual User Interface Pack (MUI). The MUI is available for
corporate customers through volume licensing contracts; it's not
available in a retail package.

This is a pain. Some computer are not available in French. To have a
corporate standard we purchase all the same model.
Converting the English version to French is not a copy or reselling, it's
not piracy.
This mean we need to purchase different computer for different country or
region? This is rediculous!
The Full French Version price is near to the Computer with OEM English
installed on. It like purchasing 2 licenses for the same PC (1 English OEM
and 1 French full version).

We may convert some setting to French (keyboard, time, date format, etc)
however the Windows XP environment will stay English. Ex. Start and All
Programs with not convert to Démarrer and Tout les Programmes. The build-in
applications like Wordpad and calculator will stay English.

Buy a French generic OEM version and do a clean install to save money.
MS is good at making sure you buy as many XPs as they can.

Bonjour Yves,

Why Microsoft and other software makers do not just have Skin Kit for their
software. Build the kernel the way you want and use the user Skin (language
package). Here .... where I studied, we made softwares 20 years ago on this
plaform. Faster to devellop, faster kernel, better kernel performances, easy
to customize. Purchasing a Skin Kit will less cheaper than a full license.

This MUI only available to corporate customers is a joke!! Let me explain....
With the new way the business is done around the globe it's commun to see
more business with workers speaking different language in the same Office.
It's not rare at all to see people speaking and writing 2 or 3 languages
minimum.
MUI sould "de facto" in all software or operating system.
Software maker need to be open minded to this issue.

LOL! What and make it easy for the paying customer? They'd much rather
you buy your languages one XP at a time.
