LgoBitmapWin

I'm trying to install an Edmark program on a Windows 98se workstation, but
the installation cancels within 10 seconds of starting. I moved the install
to a W2k Pro machine, and in task manager under the Applications tab two
processes run during this 10 second window: setup.exe and lgobitmapwin. Has
anyone ever heard of the lgobitmapwin process? Is it something that could be
hosing up my install?

Thanks for any feedback you can give.

Well, I don't have much information for you, but a quick search on Google &
Altavista yielded that other people have been having the same problem - an
installer hangs up and the user notices that a process called "LgoBitmapWin"
seems to be to blame. No idea what it is, but one person said that
"cancelling" it allows to continue the installation.

Perhaps you could try launching the installer with the task manager open,
and as soon as you see the process start, end it. It's worth a try.

Thanks, Tim. I'll give that a shot and let you know if it works. The
processonly runs for about 5 seconds, so I'll have to be quick.

I called Edmark's tech support about it. The problem was actually affecting
two OS's in my environment: win98 and win2k. They walked me through a few
things that eventually fixed the win98 manifestation: delete the Installer
folder in the Program Files directory and empty the contents of the
C:\windows\temp folder. That cleared things up in 98, but the problem was
still occurring in 2K. I'll keep you posted.
