I recently upgraded to Windows XP and my printer info was gone. So I am
trying to reinstall the Lexmark but it tells me
C:WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\AUTOEXEC.NET does not support MSDOS. What does that mean
and can I fix it? Thanks so much.

Seems like Autoexec.nt file is missing/corrupted. Try this fix:

and install the printer drivers again.

if that does not help, search for autoexec.nt in the local hard drive. a
backup copy may be available at C:\Windows\repair folder, copy it to
C:\Windows\system32.

Is it possible that the drivers that you have are not compatible with the updated version
of Windows XP that you are NOW using? If that is the case: Go to Control Panel, Add or
Remove Programs, and Remove any Lexmark entries. Then go to:

Download and install the latest WINDOWS XP drivers for your printer.
