Lexmark Problem??

dave

A friend of mine has been handed down one of these printers.....to be honest
i'm not sure which one it is.

She needed a new cart and was given one by a colleague....she was sure it
was the same as the one she took out.....she isn't very computerate and
although the cart is full,
(it fits fine in her printer).....the pc is still showing the cart as empty.

I know on the fax i use...it's a Samsung fax that takes Lexmark carts, when
you change carts you have to tell the fax machine that a "new" cart has been
installed and it subsequently re-sets the ink level monitor to FULL.

Do Lexmark printers work this way? or is it just a case that she hasnt got
the correct cart in her printer.
To be honest....i'm an Epson man and dont really have any experience of
Lexmark printers and as she lives about 25 miles away I thought i'd turn to
you lot first.

Please can someone shed some light...

Many thanx in advance

Dave :)

I have a Lexmark Z33, an ultra-cheap model, I got it for 35 UK pounds,
58 US dollars approx, the cartridges cost more...

This printer's driver detects if a cartridge has been changed (or
removed and replaced) and the next time printing is attempted it tells
you to go through the cartridge install procedure. During this
procedure you have to say if the cartridge is new or old, if you
answer "new" then the ink level is reset.

If the printer was powered down or disconnected at the time of
cartidge swap you would have to do it manually from the printer driver
control screen.

Dunno about other Lexmarks... maybe some have chips...

No worries mate, post here if you need any more info, the printer
model number would be dead handy for any kind of deep diagnosis...
