On my Sony VAIO PCG-3J1L windows 7, I cannot type a capital p using the combination of left shift key and p.
The p key works, I can type it lower case.
The left shift works, I can type every other letter in capital with the left shift.
If I press right shift and p, it works too.
Please help

I'm really not sure what would cause this to happen if both keys work independently - are you able to test the keyboard outside of Windows (i.e. is there an oppertunity to type anywhere in the BIOS or boot from a Linux Live CD?).

You could try downloading the 30 day trial of this keyboard test software and see if it highlights anything unusual:

welcome to PCR

I notice that the fn & left space key are somewhat close together, what happens when you press the FN & P key?

Not unusual for the keyboard to need a clean, don't recommend under the shower trick with a laptop though. ;)

Aye, I'd agree a clean is the best bet, either a small squirt of servisol or a compressed air blast (pop the key off prior to cleaning).
