Leave processes in memory after program is closed

Hi,

In XP Is it possible to control whether to leave a program in memory after
it is close. I have 1.5G of ram and I notice sometimes Winword.exe is left
as a running process after it is closed. Subsequently it opens very fast
next time I use it. Can I control this for other programs.

Not specifically. XP does that for any program, keeping the code in
active memory against possible reuse. When some other more important
need comes along it will drop things, its choice based on a balance of
minimising the amount dropped, and keeping the most recent things around
if possible.
