LCD Monitor ???

I've recently installed a 19" LCD monitor (X2gen) on a 5 year old Dell
running Win XP SP2 Home. Works great except when Windows is booting up. Once
in a Windows is centered OK, most of the time it's way off center. If I'm
running a "chkdsk", I can't even see the start-up wording to let it run or
cancel.

Is this a function of an outdated Bios or is there something else I can
tweak to straighten it out?

LCD monitors use a default refresh of 60Hz unlike the older CRT monitors
that usually are in the 70 to 86Hz range.
Check to see that your refresh rate (and resolution) is set correctly for
the LCD monitor you purchased.

Is there an AutoAdjust button on the monitor?
Have you tried manually adjusting the monitor via the buttons on the monitor?
Although not always needed, have you tried installing the monitors drivers? If you
don't have them you can check the manufacturers support site to see if any are
available.

Is it off center if you start in Safe Mode?
If it is, use the monitor controls to fix that.

I've never had occasion to boot up in safe mode in all the time I've had the
PC. I'll try that and see what happens.

Thanks.
