LCD Monitor unclear

I have a 19" DCL LCD monitor with a compute running XP HOME. The edges of
the screen and some of the screen fonts seem to be blurry. I turned on "TRUE
TYPE FONTS" and that made things even worse. IS there somewhere else that I
can adjust this and get it out of the monitor?

Check on the monitor vendor's website for two things. First, a
monitor definition file (.Inf) that allows you to update the monitor
driver. Windows will by default use a Plug-&-Play monitor def
file, unless a specific vendor/model is used.
Second on the vendor site, check for a monitor adjustment tool.
My Sony has a small program that allows you to fine tune the
settings for use with your video card. Note LCD monitors use a
default refresh rate of 60HZ. LCD's function differently from tube
style monitors.
Finally, make sure you are using the latest version DirectX 9.0C
and video driver. Also, it's important before installing those to use
the latest Chipset driver package for your motherboard. Chipset
drivers will usually update the AGP system driver.

I'll have a look at all of the suggestions and let you know how I make out.

You should be running the LCD panel at its native resolution; for a 19"
that's normally 1280x1024. If you have it set lower then it will look
fuzzy.

Sorry to butt in here but what happens if you can't find drivers. I have a
17" TFT LCD monitor and it's shown as a Plug and Play. I went to the
manufacturers site and there was no place to find driver downloads and the
site was dated 2001, I sent an email to them but haven't heard back yet.

There is nothing wrong with using Plug-&-Play as your monitor
definition or driver file. Specific Monitor drivers are better as
they more accurately describe your hardware's capabilities to XP.
Post back you vendor/model and I'll see if I can locate a driver
for you.

The manufacturer is Ally Star, well that's what comes up when I did a
Google on the model number which is PV1710 and my monitor is the one shown
with that number.
Thanks for any help, I do know it works OK with Plug and Play but thought
I'd see if there were the correct drivers for it.

Thanks for that, I have my display set at 1024x768 with a refresh rate of
75, which is OK I think <g>
The second link in your post was for a download so I cancelled out of
that, didn't actually know what it was, just call me chicken <g>
I will probably just carry on as I am for now, everythings running OK.

Check that you have set the screen resolution in XP to the optimum
for your TFT screen - any other will be sub-opimal.

Try using ClearType font smoothing - designed for TFT screens.

An unfortunate effect of LCD monitors is that running them at less than
their highest resolution can lead to a less than sharp/clear display.
I've ordered hundreds of LCD monitors, cheap and expensive, and they all
have the same problem - if you run at less than full resolution you will
get less than optimal sharpness of text and images.

If you get a CRT, the problem is not anywhere near as noticeable -
almost to the point that you can't notice it at all.

I have a DCL LCD monitor but when I got to the manufacturers website I can't
find anything. The monitor model is DCL9a can anyone make any
recommendations. Also where do I get ClearType for TFT monitors. IS it
included in XP Home?
