Latest XP updates

Is there something wrong with the latest XP security updates? After the
updates several of my icons disappeared from the notification area. I could
not get them back in properties, customize notification area, they are not
listed.
I did a system restore, got them back. Then installed the updates again,
same thing happened. Does anyone know anything about this?

Thank you.

Hi Sirius
You do not say which KB caused the problem - if any or another did.
Try in the microsoft.public.windowsupdate newsgroup - there are only about
200 problems posted since Black Tuesday
Warning - it makes for depressing reading

Yikes! Good thing I havn't done any MS updates. It's bad enough that
my anti-virus and anti-spy applications automatically update
themselves. But, I'd much rather have a bad application update than
an operating system. Wish MS would focus more on its operating system
and testing, but I guess that won't happen...

Don't we all - its a monthly lottery - I am waiting as well - tried last
night and could not get into WU or direct from site updates.
Still blocked with traffic. If you get a prob, don't forget,
public.windowsupdate - might see you in there later :) :)
