Large WAN configuration

We have a large WAN using T1 connectivity to each of the
20 servers located throughout our area with the DC/DNS
back in the our main office. I was curious to know
whether we should make promote each 2K server located in
these remote buildings to a DC, activate DNS and WINS on
them (we have 95/98/NT workstations) so that we reduce
network traffic back to the main office and improve
performance within each building. Are there pro's and
con's to this issue?

Appreciate any feedback on this.

Thanks

Chuckling, well there are the book ways and then there are
at times the real way. I just like to get input and
confirmation on things that I have read and research and
see if there are other options on the subject. Thanks for
the reply.

"Should we change things to get better performance?" doesn't sound
like a real question somehow... :)

The only thing I see is that 95/98 workstations validate to the PDC
only, but at the worst you still end up with a functional network when
you lose a T1 due to an errant backhoe operator.
