laptop power

I had a damaged ac power plug,I replaced the plug. Now when I press the power
on switch the power lite blinks,but the power will not stay on. Have tried to
reboot with boot cd no reponce. Checked power adapter,working properly. I am
useing Windows XP Pro

This is a hardware problem. Contact the laptop mftr.'s tech support for
help and/or the name of a local authorized repair center for their
products.

This has nothing to do whatsoever with the OS and is not XP related.
Take the system in to a repair shop; you have a hardware problem.
