Language problem

Hi,

I am importing an Ascii file to Access. I'm using Win XP Pro, Access 2000.
The Ascii file has lots of foreign characters) (French/German accents etc.).
After import my table doesn't show these characters , for example citroen
becomes CITRO?N (imagine the 1st citroen having an umlaut e.

The same data with Access 97 is not a problem at all, so it's not a
machine/language setting.

Any help please?

Not sure either, but a faster workaround may be to import into Access97,
then convert that mdb to Access 2000/02.

Hi Tom,

As you import the file, click the Advanced... button and check the Code
Page setting.
