kodak dc4800

I just upgraded my computer from W98 to W-XP. When I plug
my DC4800 camera into it, it finds camera as a new
hardware, but then it says that it doesn't have driver,
and requests Disk with the driver from the manufacturer.

Both Kodak and Microsoft sites say that XP's built-in WIA
(windows image..) handles this camera, and doesn't need
any additional drivers.

I checked on my other computer with factory installed XP-
the same story.

Any ideas?

And WIA is turned on? Look under START|ALL PROGRAMS|ADMINISTRATIVE|SERVICES

If no joy, install an inexpensive Compact Flash card reader, which will
appear as just another drive in Windows Explorer. It will allow you to
move, copy, display, etc. the image files that are on the card.

Thanks, that was it.
WIA was in the manual mode. I changed to Auto, and it
worked right away.
