KMODE Error - Win Server

L

Luke Murray

I have been trying to install Win 2000 Server Edition on a
newly formatted NTFS hard
drive. Unfortunately it gets half-way through the system
scan and then brings up
the following error -

*** STOP: 0x0000001E
(0xC0000006,0x804F0E46,0x00000000,0x4858F090)
KMODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED

*** Address 804F0E46 base at 80400000, DateStamp 384d5a76 -
ntoskrnl.exe

I've checked the documentation and the MS Knowledge Base
but they target the error
as if it were happening at logon once Windows has been
installed, not actually in
the installation itself. I'm not reall sure what to do so
any help would be appreciated.
Thanks!

I would do some basic system troubleshooting. Test memory, hard drives,
processors, etc. See if you don't have a bad component. If not, I would
remove any add-in cards that you may have installed in the system ( Modem,
network card, etc. ). Then try your installation once again. I'm gonna
venture a guess that you have a bad stick of ram in the computer. Go to
www.simmtester.com and download their free memory testing utility and run it
on the suspect machine. I've had very good success with this piece of
software and even better success with computers that I have tested this way.

Hope this helps.
