Hi V.I.;
'Bout all I know is what I see in here and in the WLOC newsgroups, since I
no longer have WLOC installed. But, if your trialing WLOC I think it pays
NOT to uninstall the disabled Defender, since you may want it back after
the trial runs out if you don't purchase. If you've bought the WLOC
product, it's redundant and disabled, with a noticeable exception... the
tools/software explorers are not incorporated in the WLOC version, and you
could re-access them by manually starting Defender, but you probably
wouldn't want to run the standalone Defender all the time that WLOC is
providing RTP. You could instead use System Internals Process Explorer to
provide much the same or more functionality:

Philip Taron [msft] says with 1.5 WLOC you can and "should" remove WD...
but more practically perhaps, Steven Boots, MVP says,
"If you are running XP, you do not need to uninstall Defender as it
will be enabled should you choose to uninstall Windows Live OneCare.
Also, the additional tools that Defender includes are not available in
the OneCare interface, so it does not hurt to manually start Defender
if you want to use the utilities. Shut Defender down when you're done,
but OneCare will disable Defender on next start anyway."
