I am totally frustrated by now, so forgive the spelling typos and anger if it shows. I have been trying to figure out why my Windows Update wont load on the "Scanfor updates" when I click on link. The same problem is also prevelant on the Office XP Pro with Frontpage update page. In both cases when I click on the Scan Now link it thinks for about 1/2 minute or so and comes back with the following info:

Windows Update Error
Windows Update has encountered an error and cannot display the requested page.
Select from any of the following pages for information about Windows Update services, or send us your feedback.
Windows Update Home Page
About Windows Update
Support Information
You can also get online support if you are having problems with Windows Update.
Send error number to Microsoft (0x800A138F) {I sent this info in to Microsoft...no reply yet}
Note This sends error information but does not create a support incident; you may or may not receive a response.

I am at my wits end in trying to figure out why both this and the same for Office XP Pro Update page have ann error message in them that prevents the scan from completing the task and load up the current updates for this product / Page. I tried various fixes and havent found the right one to handle this problem.Anyone got any ideas on what to do here? I can follow any insructions as long as it's not in code...can dop code with proper promps..
Thanks everyone who answers this request for HELP!

Are you using ZoneAlarm firewall program? I started having the same problem with the Windows Update site. I was able to get my updates by temporarily shutting down ZoneAlarm, but for security reasons I didn't like doing that. Recently, there was an update to ZoneAlarm and when I used it my Windows Update problems went away.
