of the fact that my friend who was teaching me Mandarin moved to New
York six months ago to work on getting his Ph. D., I have learned enough

native speaker would produce. To me, due to that fact, your Mandarin
seems highly suspicious. Please be either more careful or more
long-winded next time so that my suspicions are not aroused.
