Junk Mail is freezing up Outlook 2002

I received 3 Junk mail messages. Although unopened, they, or one of them,
causes Outlook to ".. encountered a problem & needs to close."
My Anti-virus program - Shield Deluxe 2007 - did not protect me & it won't
fix the problem. In fact when I run Mail scan this program freezes up on one
of the Junk emails.
Question - is there some way that I can get into Outlook or my system to
Delete these Junk emails? Or use some special software or utility?
The only other option I see is to uninstall/reinstall MS Office 2002, but
that is a lot of work.

1) Uninstalling/Reinstalling won't help since it is not an installation
issue.
2) "Unopened" doesn't mean anything. When you click on an email the mail is
opened; the unread envelope is only for your own reference and not an
indication that it is still closed.

Start Outlook in Safe Mode and remove the offending message;
Start-> Run; outlook.exe /safe

I tried Start - Run outlook.exe / safe
I get this message ~
'Cannot start Microsoft Outlook. The command line argument is not valid.
Verify the switch you are using.'

Sorry Roady - I got the spaces right this time. 'outlook.exe /safe'
It worked great & Outlook & the Shield Deluxe 2007 are now OK.

Thanks very much. You are indeed a MVP.

Hello, My name is Moses. I just joined. I have Outlook 2002 and it is frozen.
I tried the safe mode but Outlook is frozen and it will not start in safe
mode. I type in outlook.exe /safe.
