How do I ensure that Junk or spam email goes directly into the junk email
folder, and doesn't appear in my inbox, even though it has been labeled as
junk.

Outlook does not have the ability to label any item as junk - look to your installed third party anti-spam program as to the configuration you need to set to send such labelled mails directly to the Junk Mail folder rather than the in-box.

unsolicited mail sent to my personal account will be deleted without
reading.
