Jpeg Comments/Tags

Ever noticed when your right click on a Jpeg, or PNG
image, select properties, and then under the summary tab
there is an option to edit the title, subject, author,
keywords and comments; but when you edit them, they don't
stick after closing it even if you click apply or ok.

Is there a 'Microsoft approved' way to adjust these
comments/tag fields? I understand that the Jpeg
specification allows for text in its file, but I haven't
found a graceful way to alter/add that text.

There doesn't seem to be a known solution to get manually entered data to
stick in the summary tab. I did find a couple Camera Websites that had info
saying if you change from advance to simple and click anything but cancel
you will loose the info that was saved by the camera.
