Jerky window dragging

W

WILLIAM SMITHERS

Since installing a new hard diive (Maxtor 250 GB SATA) and reinstalling
Windows XP Pro, whenever I drag a window across the screen, it does not move
smoothly but in jerky movements, often with ghosting.

This is very annoying.

Can anyone help?

Thanks in advance for useful replies.

You need to install updated video card drivers. Get them from:

1. The card mftr.'s website; OR
2. The motherboard mftr.'s website if hardware is onboard; OR
3. The OEM's website for your specific machine if you have an OEM
computer (HP, Dell, Sony, etc.).

Read the installation instructions on the website where you get the
drivers.

Offhand it sounds like you need the right video driver. Perhaps you're
using a generic one that came with XP and you need to use the driver
from your motherboard maker, [assuming you have onboard video] or your
video card maker if you have a separate card.
