java console not default for IE

I have installed and updated Java but still am unable to view images on
a particular site. I have been told that I have to have Java virtual
machine to look at the images.

According to sunmicrosystems the virtual machine is part of the Java 2
run time environment.
When I go to the Tools menu on IE and click Java sun console I get an
error message:"sun java is not the default java for the browser"
followed by instructions to go to advanced tab in Internet Options .
I did this. Java checked for applets but this does not fix the
problem. Java scripting is enabled under security tab also.

Does anyone know how to fix this?

It's giving me a serious headache

You enable Sun's Java for one or more browsers by opening the "Java
Plug-in" applet in the Control Panel. Click the "Browser" tab, and
select the browser(s) you want the JRE to work with.
