i upgraded to Vista home premium a few months back and have had only a few
minor problems, so i've been happy, until today.

I put my computer to sleep, as always, went away for a few hours, woke it up
and it was slow loading up. When it finally did load, the screen went blue,
then shut down. I rebooted and after entering my password, the screen went
black for ages.

I hit alt ctrl delete and got to the promt screen and shut down.

Rebooted again, and i logged in fine, however none of my start up items
loaded. Side bar, my DVD region blocker, Norton - nada.

Shut down, rebooted, same thing. It's no big deal to manually load all this
stuff, so I did, then opened Photoshop and it told me i dont have the rights
to run Photoshop as i am not an administrator.
Same goes for everything else in Adobe Suite.

I've run a few other programs and have had no problems, i've read websites
for the last 5 hours and done a complete 4 hour virus scan, and nothing seems
to work.
My eyes are killing me and i need to sleep, but i also need Adobe Suite to
do work.

I've checked my user accounts in control panel and i'm the only user and
administrator.

Everything was working fine yesterday, and today it died.

I done a recovery but it was after the computer freaked out.
Tried to restore to an earlier date but that wouldnt work either. In the
process i lost files - which annoyed me, but not as much as this.

I really dont want to have to re-install Vista as i'll have to install xp
first and back up all my files again.

If anyone knows how to fix this, please tell me.

Would it help if i created another user, set administrator rights,
downgraded my account to user and then upgraded it back and deleted the
second admin account?

Hi,

Your user profile is corrupt. Create the new admin account as you mentioned
and copy over needed files. On the few programs giving you fits, change
ownership of the installation folder to the new account name to regain
access.

last time round i reformatted, i didnt have the time nor patience to try and
work it out because i had work that needed to be done.

Everything was fine until about 5 minutes ago, when i closed and re-opened
photoshop and it's telling me the same thing.

this is going to give me a heart attack. I tried creating a new admin
profile and it's saying the same thing.

i'm considering downgrading to XP, i had far fewer problems.
