Issue with all multimedia files playing 2x speed

Brinton Parker

Hey all...just installed Windows 2000 Professional and
ran all the windows updates today. I am experiencing an
issue where any multimedia file...audio and video seem to
play at a faster rate than they should normally. I am
running the latest version of DirectX and everything is
patched and up to date. I am not sure if the entire
system is running faster than it should or if it is just
multimedia files.

It reminds me of the old days of the turbo button on
machines way back when. You would push the button and
games etc would play faster etc.

Any ideas???

You can adjust the speed in Windows Media Player.

Click Play Menu | Play Speed
-or-
View menu | Enhancements | Play Speed Settings

Range -16 (slowest) to +16 (fastest)
1.0 is normal.
