isass.exe "endpoint format invalid" WinXP

I am experiencing the error "endpoint format invalid"
during the boot process. The dialog box title is
Isass.exe - system error.

This problem popped up after exchanging a memory module on
the system board.

What to do?

Not a very helpful reply I'm afraid - the only way out of this I found was
to re-install Windows (I use Drive Image so only lost a few days worth of
work).
