Is this problem a backwards compatability issue?

Phil S.

I have Office 2002. I do a report with Excel spreadsheets
embedded in a Word document. My partner has Office 2000.
When he opens a file that I create, his Word 2000 does not
show the spreadsheets. They print fine, but he cannot
view them on the computer. He simply gets a few lines of
text stating there is an embedded excel sheet.

Is this a backwards compatability issue? Can Word 2000
not read Excel 2002 spreadsheets? Is there a patch or
converter that will enable him to see the spreadsheets.
Or, must I simply save everything as a Word 2000 document
under "save as." Is that the only remedy (besides buying
him Office 2002?

Thanks

Phil S.

Hi, Phil,

I suspect your partner simply has field codes turned on. Tell him to try
pressing Alt+F9 to turn them off, and the result of the field -- the
spreadsheet -- should appear.
