Is there a limitation to the size of files that can be transfered

I have purcashed a new Toshiba laptop that is running Vista home edition and
I have been trying to transfer files from my Dell dsktop running XP
professional.
Irrespective if I use my LAN or an Belkin Easy Transfer USB cable, I seem to
be able to transfer about 2 gig of data OK, then the process stops.
Alas I am not terribly computer literate and cannot figure out how to
proceed to copy my old files over to my new computer

Vista has known problems with data transfer.
It doesn't usually just stop, but can be painfully slow.
If possible, I'd burn them to a CD/DVD to transfer them, that way you have a
hard copy also.

I agree with Not Me, there are problems, are you dragging and dropping a
folder at a time?

The only thing I can suggest is that you try to go into the folders and
keep the number of files down each time, and then check the resulting
folder to see they are all there intact.

When it stops it does not seem to have any logical order, so if you were
dragging a whole folder you will not know at which point it stopped
until you try again, so the easiest method is to enter the folder,
select all and drag them across as files.

got some sort of mental problem.

You claim to always install this 'API', but why? If it is so important to
you, you should at least know what it is for. But it does not seem like you

The OP has a problem downloading files to his computer. I offered him a
Microsoft Download manager which I personally have used many times to
