is there a freeware equivalent to xls2html

I believe the program xls2html is shareware.
Is there a freeware program that does the same thing which is to take
tables produced in Excel and make nice html pages out of them.

I know that Excel can do this itself but the tables don't look great
and they take up alot of bandwidth.

The freeware (nag) version of Rarefind's Paperlessprinter
(http://www.rarefind.com/paperlessprinter/downloads.html)
Can print to html files.

Also, you could open the excel file in open office spreadsheet application
and save it as webpage.

Last, but not least, /if/ you might have a newer version of MS-Office, you
can also save as html (but this includes a lot of redundant html code, i
must admit)
