Is PrimeFilm 3600u film and slide scanner any good?

Hi!

I would like to know if PrimeFilm 3600u film and slide (mostly for old
slides) scanner is good choice for scanning films and slides (including
old ones) at home (consumer) and for $129.99

)? In the past, a digital camera and taking photographs from the
projected slides was the way to go.

I know it only supports Windows XP SP2 and newer (won't work with 2000
SP4). How are the software and driver? Does it install all kind of
useless software on the system to make an old notebook (2004/2005)
slower? Is Adobe Photoshop Elements v3.0 required?

Can only tell you, that Pacific Image scanners are really low ball
products, never very highly thought of. Many users used to report
(several years ago) they did a much better job on film than the existing
flat bed film scanners of the day then, but often didn't last very long.

But I also admit, I haven't even heard them mentioned in a good long
while, until your post.
