Is my USB high or low speed (2 or 1)?

I have a Dell Dimension C521 dual core with XP(MCE).
Under Device Manager - Universal Serial Bus Controllers this is
listed:

- Generic USB Hub
- Standard Enhanced PCI to USB Host Controller
- Standard OpenHCD USB Host Controller
- USB Root Hub
- USB Root Hub

I want to buy an external HD and use it for backups with Acronis
software. I assume a USB connection is needed and I want to verify
that I have the 2.0 version.

Question:

1. I have four USB plug on my machine: two in front and two in back.
The setup instructions from Dell show four USB 2.0 connections. Do all
four plugs work under the one and same 'enhanced' controller, or does
each plug need its own instance of a controller?

2. If each plug needs its own private controller, how do I tell which
one is 'enhanced'? Could I just uninstall everything except the
'enhanced' line in the device manage and check each connector to see
if it is working?

It's obvious that I know nothing about controllers. Any advice is
appreciated...

Thanks

You have (if the machine is newer than 4-5 years) USB 2.0 on it.
That "Standard Enhanced PCI to USB Host Controller" tells it. As I
understand it, it drives all ports.

Correct!
If you see that word "enhanced" anywhere in the list of USB ports then you
can rest assured it's 2.0.
I think you'll find it'll still work, albeit a twinkle slower.
