Is my mail for windows accessable on another computer?

I'm not sure the best way to ask this. I have searched for the answer and
asked Yahoo live and have not gotten anywhere. Here's my situation. I had a
notebook computer that I bought and I installed ypops so that I could get my
yahoo mail in the new Windows mail program. It went crazy and downloaded 400
of my emails from my yahoo account, which deleted them from there for good,
before I could stop it. Well, I sent that computer back because it had a
million problems. Now, I have a law suit going on with a company that I paid
to customer make some furniture and they are not producing it. My attorney
wants copy's of correspondence. Most of those emails were downloaded via
ypops from Yahoo into Windows mail on the other laptop that I forgot to
back-up or forward to this computer or any other....

Are those emails out there somewhere. Can I set up windows mail now on this
computer and somehow have those there. I did not delete them. I guess, in
essence I am hoping they still exist "somewhere in cyber space." And if so,
how do I set up windows mail now in order to get the same results. I would
have to use ypops again I suppose but I am hoping someone has a magic answer.

Thank you so much in even taking the time to read this. All feedback would
be greatly appreciated.

My understanding is that Windows Mail normally will instruct the
mail server to delete messages that were successfully downloaded.
That is the default behavior for POP3 mail clients.
I'm afraid you are out of luck.

And with it went your only copy of the mail. That's unfortunate.
Now, I have a law suit going on with a company that I paid

And unfortunately, that action to safeguard your data was entirely your
responsibility.

The short answer is no. If they are not visible via the mail provider's
web interface, they are gone.

The longer answer involves a formal request to your mail provider to see
what they keep in backups. You'll have to give them the precise date and
time to get a useful answer.

Expect to pay for recovery *if* they even have such backups.

Actually, you did, but without realizing that this is the default behaviour
for most email clients.
I guess, in

They don't. By default, an email client deletes messages from the server
as it downloads them. You can turn this off, but it's on for a good
reason. Without it, inboxes rapidly fill to capacity and no new mail can
be received.

This is the "leave a copy of messages on the server for x days" setting.

When you set up the client, disconnect from the network while setting up the
account so that you can make this setting before the client starts to
download mail.
And if so,
how do I set up windows mail now in order to get the same results.

You will get the same default behaviour, but you won't get the messages if
they were deleted.

Check the web mail interface. If they aren't there, they are gone.
I would

answer.

Unfortunately there is no magic answer. Your mail was not backed up and
was deleted from the server, and you no longer have the only copy; that was
on the laptop you sent back, and that was likely wiped on receipt.

Log into the web interface for your mail and see if the messages are there.
If they aren't, they are gone.

Your only chance is to ask the email provider about their backups.

Sorry for not having better news.

I am sorry, I tried to be good and completely explain my situation. I left
out the part where I already talked to Yahoo and they do not have back-ups
past 24 hours. My question is to see if I can get them back on the other
side. What I mean is, if I set up my windows mail on this computer and all of
the settings are the same as before will I be able to see those other emails
that were there on my other computer, on this one???? Does that make more
sense?

Gary, I know that they are deleted from yahoo. And, they are not a pop3. I
used ypops to interface for that. I am looking to see if they are available
with ypops or windows mail somehow.... Thanks.

If they were erased from the Yahoo server, setting up a new account
on your new computer and trying to get them again will not help.

The answer is: Yes and No. 1st, you or your provider may have set a time
out or size amout that would automatically delete files. 2nd, an option in
you e-mail client may have been selected to "leave a copy of the message on
the server after being acccessed". If this was checked when you accessed
the files, they might still be there. Otherwise, they were deleted as you
downloaded them, even if you didn't actually read them.
So, if you re-setup you e-mail client the same way as it was et before, the
files might be there.

You might try to access your account through WEBmail. Almost all ISP/mail
providers have access that way. All you need to remember is the account
name and password and you can access it. This was a BoneFide Yahoo account?

YPOPs may have left copies of them somewhere on your old computer.
It does not store them anywhere off the computer it is running on. If you
don't have backups from that old computer, and they are gone from the
Yahoo server, installing YPOPs on your new computer will not help.

As far as Windows Mail is concerned, it was dealing with a POP account.
I don't know how YPOPs interacts with Yahoo webmail accounts.
However, if you are sure the messages are gone from Yahoo, where else
would you expect them to be? If either YPOPs or Windows Mail had a local
store of those messages, that store existed only on the hard drive of the
defective computer that you returned, which I'm sure has been wiped by now.
