IP Address Confusion

My computer is sitting behind a router and gets assinged the IP Address
192.168.1.2 as I would expect but there seems to be a rogue IP address
192.168.0.163 somewhere in my system that is playing havoc with my network
scanner.

All other systems on the network are in the series 192.168.1.x, including
the scanner. These addresses are assigned by the router I presume.

The trouble when I try to connect my machine to the scanner, the scanner
software assigns 192.168.0.163 to my machine and of course the scanner can
not "see me".

My event log shows a failed attempt to assign 192.168.0.163 even when the
scanner is not present, so somewhere in my machine this bad IP address is
lurking. I think it may be left over from when the computer was connected to
the internet with no router--so it came from my broadband cable modem.
How do I get rid of it please?

Sorry, the good IPs are 192.168.7.x, not that that makes any difference to
the question. I still need to get rid of the bad one 192.168.0.163.
