hi,
everytime i startup my computer, i receive the error message "invalid
partition table" in DOS mode. This came about after using partition magic.
Now i'm unable to access windows. My laptop came with an inbuilt system
restore which i can't access!
can somebody please help?

Sometimes Partition Magic damages partitions.
Another reason to always have current back-ups of important data.

As for your restore partition, contact the laptop manufacturer, but that may
be gone as well.

Perhaps you can get support from Symantec:

Now, that's a real helpful response! Nothing constructive to offer
Jose?

There are several programs that can be used which will attempt to
repair your partition table. Do a Google search. You may even be
able to find a free utility.

Oh, yes! To thrash Partion Pagic. I'm sorry but Partition Magic hasn't any constructive response. It killed the hard disk.

I have used PQMagic extensively, same as other partitioning
products. In most cases it performs flawlessly but there is the
odd accident. Obviously it has some flaws, same as any other
product that consists of more than ten lines of code. Your own
reply ("Partition Magic = Partiotion Tragic. It has killed your
hard disk.") had a flaw too, even though it consisted of two
lines only. So let's be realistic: No-one is perfect, and no
product is perfect.

By the way, I don't want to argue. Your opinion is more authoritative than mine, so surely I'm wrong. I apologise for being negative. I consider myself a realistic person.

I disagree. MVPs (such as myself) are occasionally wrong,
and learn something on each such occasion. I am realistic too,
and when I write the PQMagic worked fine in the vast
majority of all cases where I have used it then this assessment
is based on personal experience rather than on hear-say.
