Internet Spyware problem

I have a workstation here that is severely infected with spy ware. When
getting on the net the homepage keeps getting reset from the default we use
about:blank to a search engine. Then when ever he tries to open up a link it
redirects him to an undesirable site. I have run several anti spyware
programs such as, Adaware, Spybot SD, Spy Sweeper, and Hijackthis. I also
reset the hosts.sbs back to local host because it had a lot of junk in it.
None of this has worked. I am out of ideas except for format but would
rather not do that. It is a workstation using Win2k ran through a network
with a fileserver using Server 2003. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

HijackThis is usually a pretty good tool in this case, at least with expert
interpretation. How did you process the HijackThis log? Did you get expert
advice?

Did you post the HJT log somewhere? Can you provide a link to it's post?

Paranoia comes from experience - and is not necessarily a bad thing.

REcommend running msconfig from the start, run window.
When msconfig comes up, go to the start tab and turn off
everything. Goto the service tab and use the "hide
everything that is microsoft". This will expose
everything running that is not microsoft. It should be
one of these that is causing the problem. Good luck..

CWShredder - have you tried this free program yet? I am
also experiencing this problem with my users. This is
getting worse than the virus issues!

Spyware Info: <http://forums.spywareinfo.com/> is the best choice IMHO

Just please post a link, after your post goes there, as they have a lot of posts
constantly.
