Internet Explorer will not lopen

I am running window XP OS. I have been using Netscape Browser
and want to switch to Internet Explorer, which I
understand is pre-installed in Window XP. After indicating
I want Internet Explorer as my default browser, Netscape
Browser
opens with Explorer Favorites. I have tried everything
HELP! Thanks
