Internet Explorer settings non-standard across our enterprise whch causes problems for web-based app

Gurus,

We are deploying an SSL VPN. So end-users use their web browser to sign in
and go from there. The problem is that across our company we do not have
standard Internet Explorer settings on every machine. So some machines work
and some don't. It's impossible to tell what the problem is when talking to
the user over the phone. This is true really, for all web-based
applications. If the machine is too locked down, the app won't work. So my
question is, is there a utility that I can have the user run on their
machine which will report back to me what their IE settings are? I know I
can perhaps run rsop.msc to gather the Group Policy settings but I don't
think that will tell the "whole" tale of their IE settings.

Not quite the answer you are seeking, but Windows 2003 Group Policy
templates allow IE settings to be enforced rather than, as before, just set
initially. Then the problem you describe does not arise. But if you can't
apply the policy I don't know of a tool to do what you want. Our main reason
for applying the policy is so that settings are standard and it is easier to
troubleshoot,
Anthony
