Internet Explorer Maintenance Settings

Jason Dravet

I have read the previous postings on why the IE settings are not being
applied to my clients. I too am having this problem. I have a Group Policy
that adds a site to the trusted sites group. This part of the policy is not
being applied. This was happening before I applied XP SP2. I was hoping XP
SP2 would fix the problem but it didn't. I also tried the settings from
http://support.microsoft.com/?id=306915 and they did not help. Does anyone
have an update on the problem and when it might be fixed?

Thanks,

Jason

Hi Jason

If this was occurring before the installation of Windows XP SP2, it isn't
the same issue as we've been discussing here. You might need to investigate
user environment debug logging (http://support.microsoft.com/?id=221833)
and/or the brndlog.txt file located in <userprofile>\\Application
Data\Microsoft\Internet Explorer

Hi,

I have had issues with Group Policy on XP clients and it turned out it
was DNS. Make sure you have your DNS setup correctly and the IP’s of
the machines are the same IP’s in DNS.
http://www.sd61.bc.ca/windows2000/dns.htm

You can also setup your DHCP server to always automatically register
clients in DNS.

Cheers,

Lara

I found an old Pre SP2 machine and the gp was applying correctly. Do you
have any ideas? I will check the logs and post anything interesting.

Thanks,

Jason

DNS seems fine. Most of the group policy applies. It only seems that the
IE Maintenance section is not applying.

Thanks,

Jason
